The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team is heading back to state, after an offensive barrage in the regional final on Tuesday, featuring a monster hit from junior Lauren Hagedorn.

The Tigers powered their way to the state tournament for a fifth consecutive year, as they defeated the MOC-Floyd Valley Dutchmen 11-1 and the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriors 12-1 in the Class 4A Region 4 division. In the game versus Sergeant Bluff-Luton, ADM blasted four home runs, including a grand slam from Hagedorn to end the contest in 5 innings. It was her only hit of the game, as she finished 1-3, revealing she had to confirm the ball wasn’t out of play.

“I had to stand there (for) a moment just to make sure. I was making sure it wasn’t foul, but it felt really good off the bat.”

Hagedorn says the focus until the state tournament will be on taking good quality reps on both sides of the ball. In the win, she pitched 3 innings, walking a batter, and captured 6 strikeouts. Hagedorn is looking forward to the great atmosphere that the Harlan Rogers Sports Complex provides in Fort Dodge for the state tournament.

ADM will be taking on Dallas Center-Grimes at 10:30am Monday on the Iowa Central Field with Raccoon Valley Radio carrying the coverage on K107.9 KKRF.
