Perry baseball was eliminated by Ballard in the opening round of the 3A Substate 7 bracket as the club went 3-24. Owen Myers didn’t necessary have the campaign he had hoped for as he dealt with an arm injury. The senior made up for the lack of pitching by swinging the bat and using his speed.
Myers finished with a .440 average just a few points behind Geren Kenney (.443). His BA was the fourth highest among Heart of Iowa Conference hitters. The right handed hitter had three doubles, two triples, and one homer. He hit the solo shot against Madrid on June 19 for his first career home run.
The Mount Mercy University recruit struggled on the mound. Arm issues limited him to just 11 innings.
He swiped a team high 19 bases on 20 attempts. The three time State Qualifier in the 400M Hurdles used his speed throughout his entire baseball career. Myers finished with 75 career steals on 82 attempts. The speedster finished his career with a 91% success rate.
The recent graduate has been a key contributor in baseball and numerous other sports during his Perry career.
