Pitching is always a key to softball and baseball teams, and Greene County softball pitcher Alaina Heard made strides on the pitching plate that certainly helped the Rams go from 4-20 in 2024 to 16-12 this season.

Coach Tom Kennedy is quick to credit his top hurler for putting in offseason work to help in in season performances. Alaina had a 15-11 record with a 3.97 earned run average. The sophomore allowed 152 hits in 157 innings pitched and walked 90 batters while hitting 19 with pitches. She struck out 166 batters had opponents had a .218 average at the plate against her.

As a freshman, Heard had a 4-19 record with a 6.76 ERA and .287 opponents’ batting average. She walked 105 batters, hit 44 with pitches, and fanned 102 in 2024.
