A Fort Dodge woman was recently sentenced to probation for a Jefferson incident and has since violated her parole.

According to court documents, 49-year-old Danyell Freeman pled guilty to a Class D Felony for second degree theft and an aggravated misdemeanor for driving while barred. She had a five year and a two year, respectively prison sentences suspended and was placed on a total of three years of probation with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.

The charge stemmed from an investigation with the Jefferson Police Department, which started on July 15, 2024 when a business reported $11,129 of items were missing. Court documents show the officers were able to identify the vehicle, as well as Freeman and 23-year-old Shanntell Tiernan, that were involved via the surrounding business’ security cameras and it was discovered that the suspects live in Fort Dodge. An executed search warrant found the stolen property.

Court documents show that Freeman has since not met the terms of her probation, such as committing another alleged burglary incident in Webster County and failing to contact her parole officer and her whereabouts are unknown. An arrest warrant for probation violation has been issued with a $6,000 cash or surety bond attached.

The other suspect, Tiernan was placed on probation for three years after pleading guilty to a Class D Felony for second degree theft. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
