Stuart Police Department Community Programs Summer Youth Programs happened in June, and were a hit once again with the children.
Stuart Police Sergeant Katie Guisinger says that this year’s programs were increasingly popular from past years, and tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they were able to see an increased attendance for the four programs as well.
“We had a great turnout for each of the four camps. I say in total between the four camps, we had about 200 camp attendees, about 50 each camp. So, great turnout there. We had a couple kids catch their first fish or had never been in a kayak or had never seen the baseball game. So just getting out and having new experiences was really worthwhile.”
Guisinger mentions that as always, the programs consisted of two trips to Springbrook State Park, one focusing on what can be done on and in the water, with the other focusing on land activities. She adds that the other two programs were a trip to Blank Park Zoo, and to an Iowa Cubs baseball game.
