Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has a fun event next week at the Casey Public Library.
Program Director Shelby Van Horn says that there will be a food related workshop for adults to teach how to make a few meals that can be frozen, making them something that can be fixed to eat quickly. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about the dishes they will go over.
“We just thought it’d be fun to offer a program where they can do, essentially make and take freezer meals. So we have planned for them to make a three series of freezer meals. So the first one will be scrambled egg muffins for like, a breakfast option. The next option would be for either lunch or dinner, which would be chicken burrito bowls. And then our last thing that we would make would be energy bites as a snack option as well.”
Van Horn mentions that the class will be from 5:30-6:30pm, and is intended for adults. The dishes that attendees make will be something that they can then take home to share with family members or have at a later time.
