
When ADM and DC-G met Monday in the quarterfinals of the Class 4A portion of the State Softball Tournament north of Ft. Dodge, the pitchers from the two teams each had a parent from Jefferson and grandparents that still live in the Greene County seat community. The Tigers edged the Mustangs in nine innings by a 4-1 score, advancing to Wednesday’s semifinals while DC-G falls into consolation play.
Lauren Hagedorn pitched all nine innings for ADM and Tessa Jones tossed all nine for DC-G. The score was 1-1 at the end of the regulation seven innings and remained that way until ADM scored three times in the top of the ninth. Hagedorn allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk, and she struck eight batters out. Jones allowed eight hits and three earned runs. She walked one batter and fanned seven.
Adam Jones, the 1998 Jefferson-Scranton graduate is Tessa’s Father, while Kris Curnyn Hagedorn, a ’94 J-S grad is Lauren’s Mother. Hagedorn has another year of high school left and has committed to the Iowa State U. softball program, while Jones is only a sophomore.
