A Perry man has been sentenced to prison after an alleged inappropriate sexual encounter with a minor in 2024.

According to court documents, 19-year-old Melver Noel Mendez Rodriguez has been charged for three counts of sexual abuse in the 3rd degree, a Class C Felony. The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred this past November when a no-contact order was issued to Mendez Rodriguez about an alleged sexual abuse case involving an underage female. 

The document states that Mendez Rodriguez admitted that he knew the victim was a minor but continued to perform sex acts with her on three separate occasions in November. He is in custody of the Department of Corrections for a period not to exceed 10 years for all three counts without bond. In addition to the prison sentence, Mendez Rodriguez must pay a restitution fine of $1,370 and a surcharge of $90, plus $260 in civil penalties, and the no-contact order extended for five years.
