The Greene County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday morning.

The Board heard from Ames Regional Economic Alliance Director of Economic Development Outreach and Government Relations Greg Piklapp, who introduced himself to the Board. They also approved an informal travel request from Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss to attend New Engineer Training in Johnson County, the Auditor’s quarterly report for April, May and June of 2025, and the annual report for Iowa Health and Human Services/County Substance Abuse Report Prevention Grant through New Opportunities.

The final item approved by the Board was the hiring of Larry Rogers as a full-time deputy for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. The Board also heard from County Attorney Thomas Laehn regarding a 28E agreement for a wetland in DD20. Laehn requested three changes to the agreement before bringing it to the Board for approval.

Weiss also provided an update, discussing the County Road E18/P28 project and how drivers were not adhering to speed limits when traveling through Dana on E26. He will be working with law enforcement to remedy the issue. The Board entered a closed session for a drainage meeting, and after returning to open session, heard from Greene County Auditor Billie Hoskins on changes to the employee handbook that had been discussed with department heads, and that there was going to be some more discussion on the department head level before they were ready to present the changes to the Board for approval.
