Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has a few fun youth events left for July.

Youth Coordinator Rachel Muir says that a program to help prepare youth for different roles that they may come across in 4-H or in other areas around the community will be on July 31st at the Extension Office in Guthrie Center. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio a brief bit about the program.

“We have a leadership camp at the end (of the month) called the Ricochet and that is just for sixth through eighth graders and it’s more about leadership and team building.”

Muir mentions that to ricochet means to move around with a lot of energy in an unpredictable way, kind of like how 6-12th graders can do at times. She adds that the program also helps prepare the children to accept leadership opportunities as they may arise, as those chances can be unpredictable as well.
