The Greene County Pork Producers are hosting their annual meeting next month and there are a few spots remaining.
Alyssa Juergenson with the Greene County Pork Producers says the event is happening on August 1st at The Courtyard Wedding and Events Center. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio they are inviting the public to join them to celebrate their organization, as well as their sponsors and supporters.
Juergenson points out one of the non-profit group’s responsibilities is to promote pork at the county level, while also supporting their producers and youth who are involved in the industry. She shares that the Greene County Pork Producers do this in several ways including providing scholarships for graduating seniors, along with serving pork products and grilling at different events, assisting with the swine department at the county fair and donating to the local food pantry, among others.
Juergenson notes that there are currently 53 members a part of their organization and there will be membership forms available at their annual meeting where the annual fee is $20 per person or $30 for a couple.
She says the August 1st event will include a social hour starting at 5pm, followed by the meal served at 6pm, which will also include a short presentation and a couple of prize raffles. She adds that Greene County native musician Taylor King will perform from 7-11pm. Juergenson notes that there are a few spots left to register, with a $20 ticket for the public, by emailing her at alyssajuerg@gmail.com.
