The Perry Parks and Recreation Department recently purchased a new body composition machine that will be used for self-testing.

Recreation Coordinator Marco Perla tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the device is called “InBody570” and was funded through the Parks and Rec budget, which helped the organization convert one of their studios into a new agility room. He illustrates the device will measure body composition, such as muscle mass, body fat percentage, among other things.

Perla outlines that people can get a reading for $25 and are recommended every two to four weeks for the most accurate results, and possibly make nutritional adjustments if necessary. He adds that people are welcome to come get tested at the McCreary Community Building, 1800 Pattee Street, in Perry but 14-year-olds will be the youngest the Parks and Rec Department are willing to test with parental consent.
