Perry Football is five weeks away from their first game. The Bluejays will need a new signal caller in the second year of Head Coach Josh Vannornam. Gone are the days of Geren Kenney, who took the majority of the snaps at quarterback since 2022.
The conclusion of the summer workouts hasn’t distinguished a starter at QB. Junior, Ian Fisher, and sophomore Michael Bahtagic remain tied in the eyes of Coach Vannornam.
“They gotta earn that spot. So it’s going to be a battle between Fisher and Bahtagic this year for quarterback. It’ll be fun battle. It will be a fun challenge and hope they can be positive and pick each other up and then be okay with that starting spot and hopefully you have that by the end of our scrimmage against Nodaway Valley.”
Perry has a camp scheduled for August 8th in Creston. The Bluejays will begin practice on August 11 with the preparation of that scrimmage on August 22 at Nodaway Valley. The first game will be at Ogden on August 29.
