
AC/GC Senior Ben Franzeen hits a foul ball during the Chargers 6-4 loss to the Ogden Bulldogs
With the summer ball season finished for the AC/GC Chargers, we look back at how the players did.
For the softball team, junior Jacie Baker started in 20 of the 22 games she played, going to bat 41 times for four runs, seven singles and three doubles for 10 hits, and six RBIs. She was walked seven times, reached on error twice abs struck out 12 times for 13 total bases, a .244 batting average, .354 on base percentage and .317 slugging percentage. Baker was successful for three of her five stolen base attempts, and recorded 15 put outs and six errors for 21 total chances, and a .714 fielding percentage.
For the baseball team, senior Ben Franzeen started all 24 of the team’s games, taking the plate 72 times for six runs, 13 singles and five doubles for 18 hits and 11 RBIs. He was walked nine times, hit by pitch eight times, reached on error five times and was struck out 13 times for a .250 batting average, .393 on base percentage and .319 .
Franzeen recorded seven assists, 118 put outs and nine errors due 134 total chances and a fielding percentage of .933. From the mound, he pitched 14.2 innings, throwing 317 times to 64 batters for an opposing batting average of .219. Franzeen allowed 14 hits, 31 runs, of which only 13 were earned, and walked 20 batters, hit one, allowed two sacrifice plays and struck out 14 for an ERA of 6.20 and 2.32 walks and hits per inning pitched.
