Some of the workout equipment that is on the second floor of the Greene County Community Center may look new with more coming later this year.

Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department Director Nathan Kral says a fund was created when the community center was originally built almost 30 years ago, known as the Hess Fund Board, which allows for things like equipment replacements at the facility. He states that they were approved for a new treadmill, two spin bikes and rear delt/peck fly machine for a total of $15,217. Kral tells Raccoon Valley Radio having this entity to provide funding for amenities at the community center has been a nice benefit to have.

“There’s always a need for replacing equipment, or fixing equipment, or even just staying current with the current trends and wanting to get new things. So it’s very nice to have that (the Hess Fund), plus having Power Lift here locally in town has been very helpful as well. So we try to get, our weight equipment, we try to go through them for that kind of stuff.”

Kral adds that the treadmill and the spin bikes have arrived and are installed at the community center, while the other equipment is slated to be delivered next month.
