Tomorrow is an interactive program that is happening in the downtown square of Jefferson.
Warm Wishes and the Greene County Historical Society are providing a free program called, “Letters From Home” starting at 2pm tomorrow. Historical Society member Margaret Hamilton says a few of their members will share excerpts from letters they have received from family members and she invites anyone who wants to attend to do the same.
Warm Wishes Owner Kristin Lang tells Raccoon Valley Radio that after the presentations, attendees can then pick out a stationary paper, along with an envelope and a style of stamp, and they are encouraged to write a letter to someone themselves. Hamilton points out that letter writing isn’t a complex activity.
“Basically, letters are about ordinary, everyday things. They’re about, often just ‘What is the weather?’ ‘I went out for coffee today.’ ‘I watched tv.’ So that’s what a letter is and it’s still meaningful for the person who gets it because it gives a picture of you and a picture of what you’re doing.”
The program is open to the public and it takes place at Warm Wishes.
