A service at the Greene County Medical Center that is currently only available by a mobile means will soon become a permanent fixture.

CEO Chad Butterfield announces the arrival of a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit is expected to be delivered in the next six to nine months, as construction is happening in the Imaging Department and will be starting to get it ready. He says the leadership in 2015 had the foresight to have a dedicated space in the Imaging Department to someday house their own MRI machine and now that is going to become a reality.

Currently, the medical center contracts with Shared Medical, which provides a mobile MRI semi-trailer unit two mornings per week. These services will remain in place until the new MRI unit is delivered and installed.

Butterfield is excited to be able to offer these non-invasive imaging services on a daily, as needed basis for patients. Imaging Director Heather Booth is thrilled to be able to house their unit MRI machine and to have that more personalized care for the patients with their staff. According to the medical center, this new service is anticipated to be operational by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026.
