The City of Perry is encouraging residents to be mindful of the evergreens on their property.
According to Marketing and Engagement Coordinator Chris Cohea, property owners need to keep the trees on, overhanging, and their portion of the street trimmed to allow clear openings for pedestrians and vehicles to travel safely. He mentions that trees should not obstruct or shade the street lights, the vision of traffic signs or the view of any street intersections.
Cohea confirms that all branches must be at least 13 feet above the surface of the street and nine feet above the sidewalks. He says the regulations follow chapter 151 of Perry’s code of ordinances. Any questions can be directed to Perry City Hall at (515)-465-2481.
