Guthrie County Hospital released a statement in late July on strengthening patient identification to ensure safety.

According to the hospital, they already follow the best-practice standard of using two-point identification, but want to have even stronger measures in place. The release states that they will routinely check at least two identifiers to confirm identity, meaning that patients will be asked multiple times on the administrative side to confirm their identity. The hospital mentions that this doesn’t mean they don’t remember who you are, just that they want to make sure patients receive the correct and best care that they need. This patient safety campaign begins today.
