With an excessive amount of rainfall throughout the state of Iowa, drought conditions are improving, especially in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

The U.S. Drought Monitor shows that there is no drought at all in Greene, Guthrie, or Dallas counties. In fact, the only counties in Iowa dealing with either abnormally dry conditions or moderate drought are Wapello, Davis, Fremont, Mills, and Pottawattamie counties.

According to the National Weather Service, as of July 31st, Jefferson has received 10.18 inches of rain, ahead of its monthly average of 4.38 inches; Guthrie Center is sitting at 12.08 inches of rain, in front of the normal rate of 4.32 inches; and Perry totaled 10.65 inches of rain, well above the July mark of 4.28 inches.
