An expansion project for a facility in Jefferson is seeking public input as part of its next phase.

Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department Director Nathan Kral says their Board has been working with OPN Architects on the gym expansion project for the Greene County Community Center, because the current space is constantly booked during the school year with activities and several youth athletic tournaments.

“For the last few months we’ve been working with the architects and trying to narrow down the design, I guess, of the building. So that’s where we’re at right now. He (the representative with OPN Architects) to the June Board meeting and showed us the design and I think for the most part everyone (on the Board) liked that.”

Kral commends the JPRD Board for their willingness to be diligent during the entire process.

“I don’t think anyone’s ever been a part of this big of a project before. So, it’s somewhat new for everyone. But everyone’s doing a great job, I mean I think we’re doing the right things, we’re absolutely trying to do the right things, because it’s a big project and we want to get it right.”

As part of the process, Kral is asking for the public to take a short online survey so they can engage the overall interest in a project like this. Click here to take the short survey.
