Tight End Jesse Miller
2023 Greene County High School graduate Jesse Miller has begun his third season as a tight end on the University of South Dakota football team. He and his teammates went through Summer workouts, had a short break, then returned to Vermillion for the start of official practice earlier this week.
USD has had great success the past two seasons and they play in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, one of the Football Championship Subdivision’s (FCS) toughest leagues. Team goals include winning the FCS Championship, and Miller talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about his individual goals. “Obviously, we don’t have our All-American in the mix this year because he’s in the NFL, so my goal was to “level up” athletically for sure, and I’ve put a lot of weight on. In Fall camp, it’s not a matter of if I’ll play, but how I’m going to contribute. I think there’s a number of us that could definitely see the field but what am I going to do this Fall camp to separate myself from those guys? I don’t think it’s necessarily if I’ll play, but how I’ll play and what I’ll do to impact as a tight end or on special teams, which tight ends are expected to contribute a lot!”
Jesse is the son of Mark & Jennifer Miller of rural Greene County. The Miller’s oldest son, Tyler, is a sixth-year offensive lineman at Iowa State University. The Miller boys will be on opposite sidelines on Aug. 30 when the Coyotes visit the Cyclones in Ames. The Miller family is working with Shine On Designs in Jefferson and a t-shirt available for sale to the public has been designed with a portion of proceeds donated to the Greene County Rams football program. Orders can be placed from now through Aug. 13 through Shine On Designs or through the Miller’s at https://millerfootball2025itemorder.com/shop/home/.
