A former Jefferson resident was recently arrested for an alleged 2022 incident.

According to court documents, the Jefferson Police Department began an investigation in the summer of 2022, when an officer was reviewing Facebook messages between then 26-year-old Devon King and another individual about possibly purchasing illegal drugs. Court documents show that a pole camera was installed on July 18th at a residence where the believed drug exchange was going to take place.

The criminal complaint reports that the officer positively identified King as one of the individuals and a search warrant of his home in Jefferson on July 29th, recovered several drug-related items. Then in October of 2022, test results from the Criminalistics Laboratory proved the items were positive for a prescription medication, marijuana and methamphetamine.

Court documents show that an arrest warrant was issued in October of 2022 charging King with a Class C Felony for a controlled substance violation, Class D Felony for third offense for possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor for possession of marijuana, a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. According to court documents, King was arrested this past Wednesday in Adel. He was booked into the Greene County Jail where he remains under a $16,000 cash or surety bond.
