A Grand Junction man was recently sentenced to probation for having sex with a minor.

According to court documents, 23-year-old Leeroy Steadman pled guilty to a Class C Felony for his first offense for third degree sexual abuse of a child victim-persons four or more years older. He had a ten year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for five years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. 

The charge stemmed from an investigation with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office that began on October 25, 2024. The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services notified the Sheriff’s Office about an interview that they conducted with the mother of a newborn who was also from Grand Junction that was 15-year-old and the Steadman who was then 22-years-old, which was a six year age difference.

Court documents show that Steadman was also ordered to pay over $300 in civil penalties and a domestic or sexual abuse surcharge. As per the plea agreement, another Class C Felony for the first offense for third degree sexual abuse of a child victim was dismissed.
