Degan Miller

Degan Miller has a lot of experience taking people from their feet to their backside, whether it’s on the football field or wrestling mat. The Greene County junior is looking forward to adding to those totals starting later this month with the football season opener on Aug. 29 in Boone.

Miller talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about how one sport helps the other, especially when it comes to tackling in football and scoring takedowns in wrestling. “The whole takedown aspect of wrestling correlates one-hundred percent to football. If you can take down a guy in wrestling, you’re going to take down a guy in football. I think every football player should go out for wrestling! It’s one of the things that helps me in football, that wrestling background.”

Miller is a two-time State Wrestling Tournament qualifier who placed fifth at State in Class 2A last February at 165 lbs. He projects as a defensive end for Coach Caden Duncan’s Ram football team. Football camp is taking place this week with official practice starting Aug. 11.
