A public event between three entities in Greene County is coming up this weekend.
Greene County Libraries Association, Greene County Conservation Board and the Greene County Board of Supervisors are hosting the next Birding Hiking Series on Saturday at 9am at Dunbar Slough. According to GCLA, Conservation Naturalist Jacob Fernholz will lead the event where participants can observe birds that coincide with the birding backpacks that are available at each county library.
Jefferson Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount says there are two birding backpacks, one has an adult bird identification guide and the other is a youth bird identification guide, along with a set of binoculars. She invites anyone to check these items out at their community’s library.
“We have decided to make it easier for folks who are already in the hobby to sort of pick up stuff quick, or encourage folks that are maybe new to it and don’t know where to start to find a place to start.”
Saturday’s program is free and open to the public. Attendees are asked to dress for the weather and to meet at the Dunbar Slough parking lot on B Avenue, just north of 270th Street in Scranton.
