After doing significant work on the roads in 2024, Perry Public Works Director Josh Wuebker shares the areas city crews have been focusing on this year.
Wuebker tells Raccoon Valley Radio that last year there was a huge emphasis on fixing a lot of the rough spots on the road in Perry, which included an overlay project on Willis Avenue. He reveals the next course of action is to tackle Dewey Street near the elementary school, as he acknowledges the road is in poor condition.
Wuebker notes that many of the public work department’s employees live in town and experience the same frustrations as everyone else, so they are looking to address that. He describes that another project city crews worked on was repainting all the cross walks.
“To freshen that up, make it look good (and) make it so you can see the lines and everything. Once we get the concrete work done at the elementary school, we’ll go and do the cross walks out there, so it’s safe for the kids and then just keep finding other areas to hit. We have a pretty long list, but we’re aware of all these issues.”
Wuebker is hopeful to have the roads on Dewey Street smoothed out by the time school begins in late August.
