A leader with the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach touches on the aspect that he believes drives the organization forward in the state.

ISU Extension and Outreach Vice President Jason Henderson indicates that the strongest facet revolves around the connection between the members. He explains the organization’s goal is to pair residents with resources within Iowa State University that are both science based and research validated. Henderson notes that ISU Extension not only collaborates with the 99 counties throughout Iowa, but is reaching out to other states in the country. He illustrates how the organization caters to Dallas County.

“Our Master Gardiner’s program grows produce and donate to the local pantry, and they also work with the local farmer’s markets in Waukee and Adel. Another program is the Rural Housing Readiness Assessment that Perry is participating in. This is a program that statewide has led to the revitalization of many different communities, in terms of housing.”

Henderson mentions that he’s happy to work with each county to create a positive and productive environment, as ISU Extension continues to focus on building stronger communities together.
