Several rounds of severe weather came through portions of the Raccoon Valley Radio area Saturday morning.

Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team began its live coverage after the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Greene County at 7:05am. Then at 7:37am, the warning was expanded to include all of Greene County and northern Guthrie County. Northwestern Greene County then had its warning extended at 7:47am until 8:30am.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams reported 50-60 miles per hour winds with heavy rainfall, which created nearly zero visibility. Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeremy Cooper mentioned that there was little rainfall and some wind. There were no immediate reports of property damage.

Four RVR staff, along with Weatherology metrologists, Sheriff Williams and Cooper were part of the live coverage. Severe Weather Action Team brings live coverage anytime there is a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for Greene, Dallas and Guthrie Counties until the storm moves out of the area or drops below severe levels.
