A Guthrie Center man was injured while operating a lawn mower last week.

According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office on July 31st, Franklin Main, 87 of Guthrie Center was mowing his lawn with a John Deere yard tractor lawn mower, when he began mowing a steep slope. The crash report states that the mower lost traction, then overturned and rolled an unknown number of times down the slope, while ejecting Main and then the mower rolled over him. The Sheriff’s Office says when a deputy arrived on scene, the mower was on its wheels, still running with the PTO engaged. Panora Emergency Medical Services worked on Main, then transported him to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines with suspected serious and incapacitating injuries.
