Greene County Public Health is once again hosting a potential life-saving training at the Jefferson Public Library.

Public Health Director Shelby Cooklin says Stop the Bleed will be held this Wednesday from 10-11am and next Tuesday from 4-5pm. She states that participants will learn how to use all of the items in the kits that are located in several areas of the county, including all of the libraries, city halls, as well as all the school buildings and school transportation vehicles. She notes that having knowledge to stop someone from bleeding in a traumatic event can be potentially life-saving.

“It’s a very important part, especially in rural Iowa when ambulance response times sometimes aren’t as fast as they are in urban areas. So it’s important that the public knows really, how to help someone in need until EMS (Emergency Medical Service) gets there.”

Cooklin adds that there are limited spots available for each class which are free for people to attend. Interested individuals can contact the library to register at 515-386-2835.
