The Greene County Board of Supervisors held a brief meeting on Monday.
During reports, Supervisor Dan Benitz asked the other Supervisors if he could ask some certified electricians about a solution to having lots of electrical cords spread out around the board table and overloading the outlets. The Board agreed to that request.
The Board then heard from Jefferson City Administrator Scott Peterson. He said that with a recent retirement in the sanitation department, they are looking to hire a replacement. He mentioned that the Wastewater Treatment Plant improvement project is down to the final punch list items and that a ribbon cutting event is scheduled for Friday, September 12th during the Jefferson Matters Java and Juice program at 9:30am.
Peterson went on to talk about looking at a priority project of cleaning out and/or improving the drainage system near the fairgrounds. He noted that Public Works were able to clean out the drainage tile some, but more work is needed to solve the drainage issue. Peterson also mentioned that the City of Churdan has opted out of the recycling program that the Jefferson city crews do. Additionally, he told the Board that they might contact them about possibly moving the drop-off location for recyclables that is in that community for unincorporated people to use.
Lastly, Supervisor Benitz asked about incentives for new business owners. He said the former Danielson Auto Body location was sold to a new owner and he wanted to help assist if a financial program existed. Peterson mentioned a program that Jefferson Matters has, but to also have the owner contact several entities to ask about any other types of programs.
