Official practice for the Greene County High School volleyball team began yesterday. Coach Chris Heisterkamp graduated seven seniors, six of whom played in nearly every set, for the 2024 Rams. One of the taller teams in some time, last season’s squad wasn’t able to collect a third straight winning season for the program, although they did have a 5-3 record and fourth place finish in the nine team Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. A challenging non-conference schedule dropped the Rams to 11-17 overall.

The schedule on the non-conference side is again full of outstanding volleyball programs and quite a few Class 4A and even some 5A programs. Greene County plays in 3A for the postseason.

The regular season begins on Aug. 26 at Dallas Center-Grimes High School vs. the host Mustangs, Ballard (Huxley), and Iowa’s largest high school, Valley of West Des Moines.
