Tomorrow the downtown square in Jefferson will be packed with vintage and customized vehicles of all kinds in celebration of a summertime tradition.

Cruisin’ to the Square takes place from 4:30-7pm in Jefferson. Co-organizer Chuck Wenthold tells Raccoon Valley Radio over 125 cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors have registered so far for the event that allows anyone interested in an evening out to see up close the kinds of vehicles that will be on display. He says there will be ten awards given out towards the end including most likely to get a ticket and a kids pick, among others. The downtown streets will be closed at 1pm tomorrow to prepare for the vehicles to arrive.

In addition to all of the vehicles, Wenthold notes that there will be some food choices including ribeye steak sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and water, along with the Jefferson Does providing the pie and ice cream. He points out that people can also participate in a poker walk, where folks can pick up a card from the registration booth, visit six downtown businesses, turn in their card to draw a poker hand, with best hands winning prizes. Additionally, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live from 4-6pm next to the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower.

If there is inclement weather, the rain date is the next day on Friday. Anyone can still register their vehicle for the event or you can sign up the day of as well. Contact Jefferson Matters at the Welcome Center in Jefferson at 515-386-2155 to register.
