The first week of practice is underway for Bluejay football. Josh Vannornam has multiple decision to make ahead of the first game on August 29.
The biggest question surrounding the club is who will be replacing Geren Kenney at quarterback. Kenney had been a three year starter at the position.
It is a two man race with junior Ian Fisher and sophomore Michael Bahtagic. Coach Vannornam would like to have a starter named by the scrimmage at Nodaway Valley on August 22.
It’s been a fun little test for them. I would say more of a mental battle than anything just overcoming the fear of failing, right. We talked about that all the time of the team is like it’s okay to fail. You can have bad plays, bad throws whatever may be so it’s just that for me is personally is that’s what they got to overcome and whoever can do that the fastest I think is going to win the job. They’re both physically capable of doing it. Nodaway Valley is a good test to see you can do that.”
The Bluejays open on the road on August 29 against Ogden.
