A Greene County farm was recently recognized for using conservation practices.
According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Justin and Lacie Robbins of Robbins Land and Cattle were one of 40 recipients of the Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award. IDALS says this award signifies farmers and family farms that voluntarily implement conservation programs to improve water quality and soil health while serving as leaders within their communities.
The Robbins utilize cover crops and rotational grazing for their cattle operations, among other environmental improving programs. Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig says these awardees are examples of community leaders taking action on their own lands and giving inspiration to others to do the same to create a lasting culture of conservation in the state.
The Robbins were honored with the award at this year’s Iowa State Fair. The last time an individual from Greene County won the Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award was Chris Henning in 2020.
