As the cross country season approaches for Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School, senior Alaina Nelson is taking precautionary measures to remain healthy.
Nelson highlights that she’s battled injuries the past number of years, dealing with two femur stress fractures, which has caused her to miss significant time in cross country coming into this year. She says she spent most of her summer visiting her grandma, while also working at the pool in addition to running. Nelson reveals that she’s stoked to particularly run with some of her newer teammates.
“I’m most excited probably just for our team this year. Some of my new friends joined this year, and I got them to join, so I’m just excited for the team atmosphere.”
Nelson comments that she loves to encourage her teammates by thinking positive thoughts to assist them to persevere through the pain. ADM will begin the season in Johnston on Saturday, August 30th in the Sunrise Invitational.
