When you see a swimming pool, one of the things you might not think about is a piece of equipment to keep the water clean.
Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department Director Nathan Kral says they had a vacuum cleaner recently break down on them that was a loaner last year, which is the equipment that is responsible for clearing the pool of leaves and other debris that floats into the water. He explains how it works this way.
“The one we’re getting is probably two feet wide and you throw it in the water and it just goes. It’s kind of like a Roomba, kind of like a vacuum for your house, you put it in there and it just goes. They are very nice to have.”.
Kral adds that the cost is about $8,000, which the payment was from the city’s automatic allocated portion from Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation as the host city of the Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson. He states the regular pool hours will continue through next weekend before they are reduced with the new school year starting.
