On August 14th at the Iowa State Fair, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced 449 Iowa farm families that received Century or Heritage Farm status.

This year there were 246 Century Farms and 203 Heritage Farms recognized during the ceremonies, bringing the number of each to date to more than 21,000 Century Farms and over 2,000 Heritage Farms. There were seven farms recognized in Guthrie County, with five Heritage Farms and two Century Farms. Brad and Marlene Chalfant are the owners of four of the Heritage Farms, and both the Century Farms, while the Owen family owns the final Heritage Farm.
