A Friday evening fire caused some damage to a home in Jefferson.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Jefferson Fire and Police Departments, along with a deputy and Greene County Ambulance responded to the call of a fire in the 400 block of East State Street at 5:37pm on Friday. Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams says there were at least five individuals that were able to get out safely from the residence at the time of fire and no one was injured while fire crews were on scene.
Williams notes that there was minor damage to the location of the origin of the fire in the kitchen and smoke damage was throughout the rest of the home. He adds that the cause of the fire was from plastic that was left on the stove that had been on.
