The 2025 Iowa State Fair has come to a close, and one Guthrie County 4-H’er has come home a champion.

Lillie Lauzon competed in the market broiler event, and won the top spot, taking home the title of Grand Champion. She took five of her 47 birds, all of which are named Gus, and tells Raccoon Valley Radio how she chose which ones she’d exhibit.

“My dad really helped me figure it out. We just kind of decided which ones were the bigger ones and the ones that felt the best and those were the ones that were put to the side to go to the fair.”

According to results from the Iowa State Fair, two Adair County and five Guthrie County 4-H’ers received first place recognitions for their exhibits, with two Guthrie County placements receiving extra recognitions. A list of these first place winners, along with two first place winners in FFA categories, and five first place winners in open class competitions, can be found in this story online.
