A Linden woman was arrested in Stuart on alleged narcotics charges last week.
According to court documents, a Stuart Police Officer initiated a traffic stop on August 10th of a gray Ford Focus, as he knew that the driver had a barred drivers license. Court documents show that during the stop, another officer arrived with a drug dog. During an interview with the female passenger in the front seat of the vehicle, the K9 officer received permission to search the vehicle. Prior to the search, the first officer spoke with the passenger in the rear seat, 52 year old Tammy Peters of Linden, and advised her they would be searching the vehicle.
The criminal complaint states that during the search, suspected methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia was found, along with suspected marijuana and additional drug paraphernalia was recovered from a backpack. The court documents state that Peters was then placed under arrest, and told the officer that the pill bottle was from a friend she had asked for some pain medicine from, and that her friend must have given her the wrong bottle.
Peters was then charged with 3rd or subsequent offence of possession of a controlled substance, a D Class Felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. She was transported and booked into the Adair County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes official.
