The City of Bouton has used a generous donation from the Dallas County Foundation to add some visibility on the edge of the city limits.
Back in March, the Dallas County Foundation awarded $200,000 to help 36 projects, and the City of Bouton received $9,000 to invest in their Trailhead Welcome Sign along the High Trestle Trail. According to Mayor Mike Miner, the city was given $4,000 from the Foundation last year to use towards the trailhead parking lot, located next to the community building. He notes that the trailhead sign, which reads “Welcome to Bouton, Established 1881” is on the north end of the parking lot. Miner points out that there has been an increased amount of bike traffic in the area.
“It’s picked up quite a bit, and we actually put two signs on the city limits. The ‘Welcome to Bouton,’ and ‘Have a Safe Ride.’ If you pull up to that four-way stop coming into town, from (Highway) 141, you can see it straight ahead to the north, on the north side of the parking lot.”
Miner mentions that the sign was installed in early July and loves the exposure it gives to Bouton with many bikers coming through. He also thanks the Dallas County Foundation for their continued support of their efforts to improve the city and provide additional economic development opportunities.
