The Greene County Board of Supervisors met on Monday in regular session.
During reports, Informational Technology Director and Drainage District Clerk Michelle Fields presented her letter of resignation, effective September 4th. She felt that having to follow new protocols documenting what she is doing for her job was an attack on her integrity if people are questioning what she is doing. Board Chair John Muir stated that it was not the Board’s intention to question her integrity, but when people ask about what she is doing, they can give them an answer. County Attorney Thomas Laehn later on suggested having an agreement with a third party company to cover the stop gap of when Fields leaves and until a new individual has been hired.
The Board then approved the County Sheriff’s quarterly report of fees for April and June as presented, an indemnity agreement with the Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) Pay-It-Forward Tech Team Assessment as presented, and a bridge replacement project for Parkland Avenue over Hardin Creek. County Engineer Wade Weiss said that the bid letting is scheduled for November 18th with a majority of the project to take place next year.
Finally, the Board held a discussion about proposed changes to the county employee handbook. Some of those topics included employee resignations and/or terminations and paying for accrued vacation time, applying for an internal open position, additional decisions to close the courthouse and having additional holidays, among other topics. These items would be presented for approval at a future meeting.
