It’s not common in Iowa Class 3A high school football for the head coach to also take on the roles of offensive and defensive coordinator, but that’s the case for Caden Duncan of the Greene County Rams. He is in his seventh year as a head coach, all with the Rams, and he told Raccoon Valley Radio there is plenty of help if he needs to look at an I-pad or talk in person with a player. “I’ve got different staff members that I lean on, on both sides of the ball, but in terms on calling the plays I call those, and I do technically call the defense, too, but there are times I can hand that over to Coach (Ronnnie) Pollock or Coach (Don) Kruse. They can make some calls for me. On the offensive side, I’ve got Coach (Matt) Paulsen and also my Dad (Jim Duncan) that can help there.”
The Rams have a 6 p.m. scrimmage vs. Panorama in Panora this Friday, Aug. 22 in preparation for the regular season opener on Aug. 29 in Boone vs. the Toreadors. All nine regular season games will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
