Iowa Auditor and 2026 Candidate for Iowa Governor Rob Sand visited several counties yesterday, and made a stop in Guthrie Center at the Mary J Barnett Memorial Library.

Sand held a Town Hall, with over 60 people in attendance, so many that not all could fit in the meeting room the event was being held in. As part of the event, he asked those in attendance who was a registered Republican, who was a registered Independent, and who was a registered Democrat, and asked everyone to clap for them.

During a media interview, Sand was asked how he may reach out those who aren’t registered to vote, and answered that getting the message out is a big part of it.

“A lot of people who aren’t voters, aren’t voters because they think that this system is broken. I agree with them. And in fact, I’m not shy about saying it. I’ve been saying that for a long time. Even back in 2018, when I ran the first time, the ads that I was running were telling people I prosecuted Democrats and Republicans when I was prosecuting public corruption at the attorney general’s office. I’m not really interested in right versus left. I’m focused on right versus wrong. Or, the idea is not to have Iowa be redder or bluer, but better and truer. That resonates with people.”

Sand was asked several questions during the public question and answer segment, including how to make childcare affordable, what he saw as the top three critical issues to address, how to help save the environment, and what some encouraging things were that he’d heard as he’s been doing his annual 100 Town Hall Tour. Additionally, Sand also made a campaign stop in Jefferson at Pickaway Americana and Meeting House later in the evening, where about 80 people attended.
