Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Cross Country senior Alaina Nelson is thankful to her coaches for giving her reasons to remain motivated while running.

After dealing with two femur stress fractures, Nelson’s main priority is to be healthy through the entire season, as she has a personal goal of running under 21 minutes in her final high school year. She says that her favorite types of runs include going out on the trails and doing interval workouts with her teammates. Nelson shares how Head Coach Steve Brown and Assistant Coach Sara Schwertfeger inspire her during the season.

“He gives us really good advice, and he helps us to make sure that we’re not getting down on ourselves, and that we’re here to have fun, and he helps with that, and so does Coach Sara.”

Following a race, Nelson likes to do a cooldown jog, eat some food, and take a nap in order to recover her body. She is one of the eight seniors for the Tigers, as the others include Jaeley Doll, Haley James, Rhyan Miller, Brecken Morse, Haley Nelson, Ella Popp, and Brenna Seidl. ADM will run in their opening meet next Saturday, August 30th at Johnston High School for the Sunrise Invitational.
