With the first day of school happening on Monday in the Greene County School District, families of students are reminded of some transportation changes.
Superintendent Brett Abbotts says the adjustments to busing routes were in the city of Jefferson, and a shuttle route was actually created to pick up high school students at the former middle school to accommodate some of the stops that were eliminated. Abbotts additionally explains that the Monday early dismissal times at the elementary and middle schools have also been moved up. The elementary will now let students out at 1:30pm and the middle school was pushed back 25 minutes with dismissal at 1:50pm, while the high school remains the same as last year at 1:47pm.
“And all of that was done to accommodate our transportation and then it also actually ended up working out in a positive direction, especially for our middle school from an instructional standpoint.”
Abbotts adds that all beginning school day bells first ring at 8am, with the final bell chiming at 8:10am for students to be in their seats ready for their class of the day. All families are encouraged to review the pick-up and drop-off areas for the all three buildings ahead of the first day of school on Monday.
