Josi Dufoe isn’t traveling too far from her hometown for college, as she reminisces on the aspects she’ll miss about the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Track and Field team.
Dufoe is a 2025 graduate, who represented exceptionally well at the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Class 3A State Meet in Des Moines back in May. She raced to a first place finish in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 14.50 seconds, and then was apart of the state-record 4×100 Meter Shuttle Hurdle team, along with Haley Nelson, Bella Smyth, and Elise Coghlan, that accomplished a time of 1:01.15. Dufoe reveals the hardest part of leaving ADM is the relationships she’s made.
“I’m just going to miss my teammates and the whole culture. I think track and field changes a lot in college, where it’s more individual based, so I’m really going to miss a lot of the girls. A lot of them became like my sisters, and we spent so much time together and pushed each other. We went through all of those failures and successes this year, so I’m really going to miss them, but again I’m excited to see what they do (in) the years forward.”
The Tigers won their second consecutive team championship, which accounts for two of the school’s three overall championships, since ADM combined between the three communities. Dufoe is gearing up to begin her first year at Drake University in Des Moines to continue her track and field career, and is leaning towards majoring in kinesiology.
