The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Volleyball Team will see their first action as a complete team tomorrow, as they head towards the Des Moines metropolitan area for a scrimmage.
The Tigers will have unofficial matches in a non-season tournament at Johnston High School that features 11 other schools. Head Coach Trevor Irwin shares that he has witnessed the eight seniors on the squad create a unified culture with the younger teammates, and are focused on building an inviting atmosphere. He describes that the upperclassmen have taken it upon themselves to lead ADM.
“We had our senior leadership team come up with standards and values that they wanted to have our season be about. And so, we kind of just sprinkled those in as a coaching staff. Obviously, we’ve only had a couple of days so far, but we just slowly started to implement those, and make them our general standards that will guide us through our season and our games, and then just as we look towards competing in districts as well.”
Irwin believes the ceiling is immensely high for the Tigers, referencing that the girls have a great competitive spirit and should be a force to be reckoned with offensively. Tomorrow’s scrimmage begins at 9am, with the opening game of the regular season this coming Thursday in Adel.
